It was in San Diego, it ran as a stream alongside the main NASAGA conference. Led by Alain. It was called "Summit on Improvisation in Business" and we called ourselves something like the "Association for the Advancement of Improvisation in Business" or something equally naff. I think it was 2002. I was there.
Thanks Johnnie! I'm applying for grants these days.
And Paul Z Jackson - he was in on the initial conversations.
Hi! I think that Alain Rostain is the person for answering to this? And Cathy Salit!
Magnifico - a jazz first (I think), a professor and a good guy. Can he recommend any jazz improv sites that are a bit like this one, where we can spread the word about the conference and the AIN?
Good thought! I'll ask him. -Sven-
I am very happy today, because Bjørn (Bjorn) Alterhaug, who is a very famous Norwegian jazzmusician, confirmed that he will join us at the conference! Bjørn has done recordings with Chet Baker and Lee Konitz among others. Also, he is a music professor at the University of Trondheim doing scientific research on impro which he also teach. I would say he is the father of Norwegian research on improvisation. And he is a very nice guy! Gosh, he said he would bring his base with him as well and maybe his saxophone playing friend. This will be great! :-)
"Sicko" and Norway

Don't believe everything Michael Moore tells you about Norway :-)

I went ahead and deleted the duplicate Sven. Yes, please repost the dates and the links you had as well. Actually, if you email Alan the info, he could click 'edit' on his initial post, he could put dates and links in there, which might be more appropriate.
Cheers,
Leif
In response to your question, Kay, I believe the dates mentioned were provisionally June 5-8. I suggested to Sven that, in addition to the wonderful "home rooms" introduced by Caitlin McClure, we might introduce a cross-mentoring system, where a Conference veteran would buddy up with a Conference newbie, and they would each help the other navigate the wonderful world of AIN. I'm also interested in having some opening/plenary sessions around getting people to share differences in culture and customs as well as perspectives (to be undertaken in the form of improv games).
Can you guys post the Trondheim 08 info from the old website here so I can start sending links to Euro folk I know? (a direct link from the main page to both Chicago and Norway 08 would also be much appreciaed)
