The Applied Improvisation Network

Spreading the Transforming Power of Improvisation

Hi Lovely AIN Peeps!

Jonathan Hughes and I are delivering a workshop at the Chicago AIN conference on Saturday Oct 25th, which I notice has been given the GREAT title 'Using Improv to Save the World'. We were wondering generally what your interest/experience/appetite is for engaging both personally and professionally with issues of 1) Environmental Sustainability, 2) Social Justice, and 3) Emotional Wellbeing, AND (because this sentence is not long enough) if specifically, any of you have experience using improvisation exercises around these issues. We look forward to hearing from you!!!!

Best wishes,
Belina

Hi Remy,
Thank you for your beautiful words. I love your reason for teaching impro. Last Christmas, I volunteered for Crisis Open Christmas in London and ran an improvisation session mixing homeless people and volunteers. What a fun learning experience for everyone - especially me!

Would love to meet up for a coffee with you 'in town' sometime soon. Let me know when would be good.

Best wishes,
Belina

Hey, Belina... Several years back, ImprovWorks was invited by Tandem's Wellness Dept to do a presentation on the importance of attitude on well-being. Of course, the Yes, And was the core of the program we designed... focusing on how hugely valuable it is to one's mental/physical/emotional well-being to understand that acceptance does not have to mean agreement. This allows for resistance to diminish, and frees up a lot of energy that can be directed in a positive, forward moving direction. Also allows for more pro-activity and less reactivity.

Best!
Sue

Hey Sue,

Thank you! One of the aspects we'll be focusing on in the workshop in Chicago is emotional/spiritual (with a small 's' - not tied to any specific beliefs) wellbeing. I think 'Yes, And' without necessarily agreeing is a key element for that wellbeing.

Can't wait to see you!!!!

Best wishes,
Belina

We're engaging with 1) via this: http://www.recycleddreams.net

This is a one act play which performs in both public theatres and on-site at photocopiers. There's a real, live, in the moment feel when we play onsite.
