Using Twitter to Promote Your AI Business -what is your twitter name?

For those of you who aren't yet on Twitter, I'd highly recommend setting up an account. Twitter falls into the genre of 'microblogging' and is a cross between blogs and chats --in that you leave very short messages (140 char max) and people can reply to you using an "@leifhansen xyz" in the beginning of their message. It's an amazing 'nowsourcing' tool and is growing ridiculously fast thanks to a variety of reasons and being a media darling.

Many people wonder how/why Twitter can work for business, and its a good conversation, but let me point you to one excellent article/discussion on Biznik that already exists. Search 'twitter' in their articles section for more.

Here's a great simple, short video to explain things for you as well.

You can find me (Leif Hansen) on twitter - please say hi and follow me (let me know your AIN connection) so I can follow you back.

Please add your own twitter name to this discussion so we can find, follow and support each other.

Lastly, when tweeting about applied improv please use the following 'hashtags':
  • #improv for improv in general
  • #appliedimprov for any applied improv or AIN related info
  • #appliedimprov09 (or 08, 10, etc) for AIN annual conferences

Enjoy, and I look forward to hearing you on twitter and seeing you at the next conference!
-Leif

According to Twitter you don't exist, at least not under that username. There are two people with your name, @rockforeva419 and @KittyM8721, but neither seem to be you. If you go to your Twitter page and look down the right hand column you'll see an @ sign followed by your username. If you cut and paste that to here it should definitely lead us to your page.

Hi Caitlin.... don't know if you have had a reply regarding the mystery of hashtags (#) ... I do some twitter coaching (for beginners) and I explain that as like a "club". If you want to hang out with people who are only talking about certain subjects, stick a hashtag in front and it will be a committed discussion on that topic. Leif has started the clubs * #improv #appliedimprov #appliedimprov09 .
I sometimes check into #theatre ... and you'll see on the side of your twitter page "trending topics". You'll usually see a hashtag there somewhere. If you don't use a hashtag you will just get random sentences that have your key word.

Hope that is helpful!

Did you know you've set your Twitter page to private? No one new can see your updates to check whether to follow you, so there's not a lot of point publicising your address here!

If you request to follow me, you could get access and then check out the updates!
