The Applied Improvisation Network

Spreading the Transforming Power of Improvisation

Hi Folks, An improv conference wouldn't be complete without music! I will pack my 'lightweight', Gibson-Backpacker guitar, my slide and my gravely blues singing voice. If anyone play the blues harp, bring along the keys of C and A.

What are you going to bring to the Portland Jam!?

Looking forward to mixing-it-up with everyone next month!

Cheers

Geoff

Hey Geoff,

Welcome to AIN! I'm on my way to Portland later today from San Francisco, so I'll get a chance to meet you there. Thought of bringing my uke, per your request, but I'm trying to travel light (for a change!) so it may not happen. I do love to sing though, so let's get together during the conference.

I'm also on my way to Australia right after the conference for a month! (my first trip there--I'm so excited!) I will be in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, and Hobart. Are you near any of those?

Take care,
Yael Schy

Hi Yael

Look forward to meeting you. I am sure there will be plenty of instruments to loan while you are here :-)

And yes, I am about 2 hours out of Melbourne in a great part of Victoria called "The Surf Coast". A wee town called Aireys Inlet.

See you later today.

Geoff

I would love to do some music with you. I sing improvisationally, any style and my own. Words et al. I will look for you at the conference. You can hear some stuff at myspace.com/marciamcreynolds

That's good news. We also have a unique disco/dance type night, usually after the impro jam. This has been dj-ed by Henk and others in previous years. Is anyone bringing their mixes and dance collections this time?

There certainly was some unique (and awesome) music and dancing at Banff, and am ready to participate again. :D

Good stuff, Geoff. Thanks for this thread.

I am going to bring my djembe drum, and both my hands. My charming smile and shwanky accent will (hopefully) disguise the fact that I am really a beginner drummer... despite what some of my friends say...
