Spreading the Transforming Power of Improvisation

Hi everyone!! I was wondering what topic I should pick for this week until I remembered that I found this shaving brush named Samurai in a market in Naples (Napori) ,market last summer. I asked why the shaving brush is named Samurai to the man who was selling them. “When it has a Japanese name, it sounds like it has technology” was his answer. Does it really?? As Japanese, it is hard to understand but I thought that I shall introduce some new technology that are coming out in Japan!

Pileus-Flicker Umbrella- http://jp.youtube.com/watch?v=eEJA5RoYN4U
Add more colors on a dark rainy day, by using this umbrella which was created by a team from Keio University. What it does is that the umbrella becomes a screen which displays images from the internet as the user walks along. This umbrella contains a camera, a motion sensor, GPS, and a digital compass. And all this will be controlled by rotating the grip. And of course! You could watch YouTube too!

Miuro- music robot- http://jp.youtube.com/watch?v=gFxpuUMil5U
Rolly- dancing robot- http://jp.youtube.com/watch?v=HTxdKi77G20&feature=related

These two are robots are actually in the market already and slowly becoming famous. Miuro is a robot which has cameras and sensors that help it find its way to the programmed location, to come over to you and play music for you. For example, it could be used as an alarm clock, moving to your bedroom and wake you up with music.
On the other hand Rolly came out from SONY has a mp3 player inside it, and could also play and dance for you. Better see the video than explaining it!
