Few more days till Asia Conference!
Travelling abroad is always enjoyable when the travellers knows and can handle the difference of customs and amenities from their country.
These are some tips!
Electricitity in Japan
Generally, using hair dryers is not a problem in Japan. The voltage in Japan is 100v(Ex.US 110v). Travellers should bring a two-pronged adapter in order to plug in adapters with more than two holes.
Using Public Toilets in Japan
Public toilets are readily available in transportation hubs, such as airports and train stations. Squat-style toilets are most common, but there is usually at least one Western-style toilet available.
Paper towels are not provided, and the hand-dryers do not dry enough like most western countries, therefore carry tissues or handkerchief is useful.
Eating
Some restraunts in Japan will ask you to take of your shoes before seating. Don't forget to bring clean socks! Chopsticks are commonly used, but most restraunts will usually have spoons and forks. Most restraunts in Japan, will give you an o-shibori(wet hot towels) to clean your hands before ordering.
Tipping
There is absolutly no need of tipping in Japan. Most Japanese is well paid and takes pride in their jobs so it might be offending to be offered a tip.
Driving
The vehicles in Japan are drived on the left. Drivers will need an international driver's license. Japan is very strict about its driving codes. Drunk driving and cellphone driving could lead you to enormous fare.
