As I am sitting in my hotel room in Tokyo, catching my breath after the AIN-Asia conference, I am remembering our Regional Gathering with a smile; not only for the new activities, perspectives and learnings, but also for the fun fellowship. It's so great to have that at home on a regular basis, and then watch it occur wherever in the world we AINers get together.
If I can find a hula hoop or a pole, I am going to use the Team Task here in Tokyo later this week.
The SF Bay AIN meetings are always productive. I loved being reminded that getting involved at the local community level could lead to local work gigs. I'm always amazed at how a group of people can spark so many more ideas for debriefing and so many variations on a simple game. We came up with 3 or 4 variations of using ABC charades by having the guesser become the mimer, by having multiple guessers, by having the first guess be right no matter what they say. I'm looking forward to using the game in all those ways.
The key things that I am taking away from this meeting are:
- Don't assume they don't want the things you have, offer or are most passionate about
- Followup, Followup, Followup
I loved the ABC Charades game and have already used it in a workshop this weekend. It was great fun! I also can't wait to try "up in the air" in a team setting.
