Nu pas je commentaar gezien. Bedankt voor de leuke opmerking. We kennen elkaar inderdaad niet maar daar kunnen we misschien wel verandering in brengen.

Hoi Anton. Ik zag je vraag over wat je gedaan zou hebben na een goede dag met trainers en coaches.
Nou zit daar volgens mij nog wel een verschil in. bij trainers zou ik geneigd zijn andere dingen te doen als het gaat om puur coaching. Wat de laatsten betreft: "Ja...en" als absolute sleutel voor coaching lijkt me erg voor de hand liggen. Veel oefeningen daarmee dus. Mijn favoriet: Duo, A doet voorstel, B antwoord overal Ja op, rolwissel: B voorstel, A antwoord Nee, dan Ja...maar en tot slot Ja...en. Eventueel als extra stap (na de debrief van de eerste serie): beiden Ja...en.
Verder vooral veel aandacht voor het hier en nu.
Ik zou kortom vooral de 'improspier' zoveel mogelijk trainen in een dag. Heel veel DOEN dus, veel oefeningetjes en vooral ook veel spelen, met korte debrief momenten (o.a. op hoe men de basis-impro0regeles terugziet in geimproviseerde scenetjes). En op het eind dan wat langer debriefen.
Wat pure trainers (ik ga hierbij even uit van trainer met groep i.t.t. coach in een 1 op 1) betreft: die kunnen ook nog wel wat leren als het gaat om het flexibel omgaan met hun materiaal! Onze boodschap luidt vaak: 'wees voorbereid in het hier en nu'; dus bereid stevig voor...en gooi vervolgens alles weg!
Tot slot: Thiagi (zie www.thiagi.com) heeft zo'n prachtige slogan als het gaat over faciliteren: "Let the inmates run the asylum". Als je dit principe kunt toepassen op een dag voor trainers, ervaren zij aan den lijve wat dit betekent! En daar kunnen veel trainers volgens mij nog zeker wat mee! Typisch geval van 'walk your talk' dus.

- How did you use improv in your seminars?
I had a team building seminar where people knew each other "somehow" and had an idea what the others did. I made them tell a "typical workday" in pairs by voice mirroring. Afterwards the "mirror" told the group what she had learned. Later they did the "yes, and"-exercise in pairs to create their ideal work place (in a way an answer to the miracle question).
In a writing seminar I made the participants throw (1) sounds, then words and associations. At the end of the first day I made them tell in pairs what they had learn in a "one word at a time" game.
And of course I used warm up- and concentration games after the break (Big Bootie, Who killed John?, clapping hands in the circle (don't know, what these games are called))

- What difference did that make (both for you and for the participants)?
The groups I meet are normally not used to playing at all - so any game is a surprise for them. What I am doing more than before is debriefing the game by asking the participants: "If this was not only a game but something useful for your work, what would that be?" That's the second surprise for the participants. The third is that they find answers which make sense to them.

- What is the first thing you would notice to be different if you would take this to a next level?
Good question... I still see myself providing a lot of information in a traditional form (talk, presentation, making sure that they got the information that I think they need). I think if I take this (i. e. use of impro-elements & co.) I will be able to let go of these things and gain trust that participants take those things out of the workshop which they need. So both I as a facilitator and the participants are less under pressure, and, hopefully, the benefit is bigger for all of us.

Hi, Anton. Yes, of course, I can give you a clue. AND I could spend the rest of this afternoon at the computer (which I certainly will) and tell you about all the wonderful things that happened since Cologne (and I have to do some other things). So please help both of us and tell me, what you are looking for: The kind of workshops I attended? The principles that I read and heard about and which I tried to "live"? Where I have used impro(-exercises) in Seminars? The laaaaarge amount of games people made me play? The observations I have made? The link to SF that I start seeing? ... I guess you have other suggestions ;-) and I do not want to bore you with things you are not looking for. So ... what is it? I'm curious.

Hi Anton. What a nice suprise to meet here again. I am really happy that you could make use of the format for a successful workshop. I received wonderful input from the improvisors on doing workshops, too. It's good to be here and in the sf world.
