I discovered that my favorite moments in traditional theatre happened when something went wrong and we had to fall back on improvisation in the moment.
More about you: (Short Bio or any other details you'd like people to know)
Daniel Knutson-Bradac studied acting and theatre at California State University at Long Beach and at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute in Hollywood, California. He received his B.A. At Evergreen State College in studies focused on the audience/performer relationship. For about 15 years, theatre, odd jobs, anti-nuclear activism and political theatre was life. Children, family and work in information technology and government have filled that last 23 years. Raising kids brought life back into the present tense. Playing with them as they grew up filled life with joy. Now that they are nearly grown and playing their own story, he's teaching improv classes and workshops. He's learning constantly from his wife, his friends and fellow improvisers and is directing and performing with the new not necessarily funny improv group.

10 Day Keith Johnstone Summer Intensive in Calgary.

I've tried to record the activities and my reaction to each of the sessions at this wonderful summer intensive. You can view this record at http://www.olyimprov.org/blog.html . The entries are all on a single page with the beginning at the bottom of the page and the newest sessions posted on the top.

Once the intensive is over, I'll re-order and edit it all. And if you have any questions about the posts, I'll be happy to try and answer them.

Oona;

We don't have a regular place for improv. I teach regular classes. Some of our group have applied improv practices, i.e. expressive therapy for groups, etc.

Cass Murphy from Bellingham joined last year's class and was a delight to work with.

I do plan to cast a show for early winter, so wish me luck and feel free to refer people along. We've also gotten a number of workshop requests for the spring for regional school district staff.

Cheers,
Daniel

Hello Daniel,
I hope next time you all visit our theater you say hello - I am there quite often! Do you have a place in the Olympia area for improv? I have a few displaced Bellinghamsterfriends that now live in Oly and they miss playing with seasoned improvisers.

Cheers,
Oona

Helo Daniel,
My trip home was long yet good. I haven't had time for jetlag as I hit the ground running with work which has kept me on the road. I have hardly been home. Banff was a nice restful pace for me.
I too enjoyed the trip to Calgary. I trust that the 4 of you have been energised by the time at the conference. It would be great to catch up with you again.
Best wishes,
Christine Carlton

Hi Daniel! This is amazing - to have friends online from the AIN! I am now in North Carolina with Greg Hohn and have had two full days, following in his footsteps (and he is a busy man). Yesterday we had a workshop with a group of students from Business School and today we have had a group that were presenting their own material in a course called Stylistics. Very impressing - they had written all the materials themselves and used music and poetry in the presentations. I was totally wiped out! They were so good! And in the evening I attended an evening class in improv. Nice! And tomorrow - New York - here I come! Love to you and to Kari! Talk soon again!
