I was in 3rd grade in a new school. The art teacher tried out improv acting as a module for a week. I'll never forget the topic I was given: "Your character was asked to care for a friend's fish for the weekend. It died." The scene spun into why hamburgers may or may not be good for fish, and how hard it is to be a kid. It was thrilling. The teacher asked two of us to stay after class. Was I in trouble?! No -- he asked us to show the kindergarteners in the next class! Best school day I could imagine. I revisit that memory before I go on stage from time to time, and makes a big difference in the quality and fun of the show.
More about you: (Short Bio or any other details you'd like people to know)
Since I can remember, when it came time to memorize lines and lyrics, I always rebelled -- I preferred to use my own. My introduction to improv was in the 3rd grade; see above. Although I did scripted work, I didn't find another improv outlet until after college, when I moved back to Pittsburgh from Notre Dame and found the Friday Night Improvs at (U of) Pitt. Thereafter I took an analyst/consultant job in Chicagoland, where I've been since. I've had the chance to dig into improv at iO (formerly Improv Olympic) and ComedySportz here as well, a big part of my drive (somewhat) westward. Some of the most fun an rewarding improv work I've done is with Funny Bones, which is currently active with the Children's Memorial Hospital.

I now work at a consulting company that applies advanced linguistic-based human behavioral modeling to analyze and improve customer interactions. Recorded conversations between customers and companies are analyzed, extracting relevant metrics, patterns, and trends that will help our clients drive business performance improvements in both customer service and sales. I work within the Business Monitoring division, extracting business insights from the data and making recommendations to drive value. I am responsible for identifying opportunity and driving improvement for clients within the financial services and utilities industries, as well as training executives, managers, and supervisors about coaching strategies and tools.

My undergraduate work focused on psychology and computer applications; my postgraduate work focused on social science, specifically, ritual and anthropology of food. Cultural norms and food choices fascinate me to no end!
