Hello Robin,

I am in the process of starting an improv-based training corporation in Lebanon. It will be the first in Lebanon and the whole Arab World (Middle East even, if we exclude Israel, probably). If you are interested in a partnership with this corporation, please message me so that we can discuss the possibilities.

Best,
Raffi

Robin,

Consider me a west coast contact. And you'll be my Toronto contact?

It's soooo nice to find you here...kinda like finding buried treasure! :)

As I always say about any and every kind of conflict, that's something not to be avoided but explored! It's amazing where the willingness to be curious and play will lead you...although obviously at the outset, many people mired in conflict aren't willing to abandon their entrenched positions... so improv and Forum Theatre is a good way of getting them to consider another perspective.

YES! That's it. It's up to us to make the connections for them, but it's up to them to impliment. We are new in business, but I believe if a core group "gets it" and is rewarded for new behavior, change can happen rapidly. I think about the workshops we do - we tell people to mirror each other and they do! Tell them to dance and they do. They are given permission and for the period of permission they behave in a new way. Change is a reach - a challenge. My challenge is how to empower this new behavior. How to facilitate it. And then again maybe that goal is beyond MY reach... do you think we are planting seeds? I have to figure this out!

Hey Robin - we were so hoping to have a "Del Close-ian" representative at our Banff conference to enrich our learning with Keith Johnstone and Gary Schwartz of Viola Spolin's work. So next year...Chicago (does it get better?)...it would be so great to learn from/with you and your Second City colleagues and friends about Del's contributions. Looking forward to seeing you in 2008 if not before.

I always had great respect for the Toronto Company---of course they have the luxury of not having to work in front of predominantly American audiences. :) "Great ideas are a dime a dozen. What you need is great execution." GOOD quote! I am seeking partners for a new venture wherein online daters go offline for a weekend resort retreat to examine their relationship issues fun and games style. I have a centrally located all suites hotel in mind for the series of events/classes. Additionally I would be able to employ or work with a person or persons such as yourself with corporate clients.

I remember sitting with Del Close when I was just starting at The Second City in Toronto and he had patiently listened to all these "great" ideas I had for movie scripts and then he paused for a moment and said, "Great ideas are a dime a dozen. What you need is great execution." And I realized that improv was a form that could lead you to great execution...the product is part of the process.
More about you: (Short Bio or any other details you'd like people to know)
I'm a alumni of The Second City Toronto and still teach improvisation at the training centre there. I have my own company, Corporate Agility, that provides training for team building, innovation, communication, creative thinking using improvisation based workshops . I have 30 years of experience in the world of improvisation. And have had the pleasure of working with an exciting and diverse group of people from Del Close to the students I taught last Monday.

Setting a Roadmap to What You Want...Part One (A response to Johnnie Moore's Blog)

How do you get where you want to go? Well first of all you have to figure out where you want to go. Not always as easy as it may seem on first blush. But let’s say for starters that it’s okay to go for the big stuff right off the bat. I want to be rich. I want to be happy. I want a great relationship. I want to have a fulfilling job. And some of this stuff is interconnected clearly.

But if that’s what you want, then that’s what you want. And y

Setting a Roadmap to What You Want...Part Two (A response to Johnnie's Blog)

Now you have a road map in hand that shows you how to get where you want to go.

So then do you look at this map and say, “I am not going to waver from this route till I get there.” Well you have to stay focused and keep you eye on the next stop on your journey. But here is a key element to following any road map. The journey to one stop along the way sometimes changes your perspective aContinue

Sometimes Size does Matter!

I get the impression that many of us are single person entities or small businesses. As such I think it can make approaching large corporations more intimidating because you have to start answering all the "how many people can you handle" or "are you able to handle a project of this size" questions.

So I 'm thinking that what we have here is the possibility of thinking of AIN as an extension of our businesses. And I realize that in many ways that is what it was intended to be. I'm eith

The Conflict Between Good Teams and Reward Systems

I'm not sure if anyone else has come up against this but I imagine you have at some level. I am constantly amazed at the number of times I have finished a workshop and someone will come up to me and say, "This was really great but I could never do this at my work." Or the number of peopel who tell me they just had a training session on how to say "no"...like that ever seems to be a problem.

The conflict between being asked to foster support and creativity in teams and the way they are

Happy to be Aboard

I have been in and out of focus with AIN since it started...or I think I have anyway, but I would like to continue to get more involved so this my first step in doing that. I'd like to thank those who've managed to build the organization into the lively and active group that it is today. And I also like to thank whoever is responsible for getting this website together. It's very intuitive and easy to navigate which is a plus for me because I get lost easy. Truth be told I kind of like getting
