Hi Ruthie,

Hotel costs are here: http://appliedimprov.ning.com/group/ain2009portlandor/forum/topics/booking-your-room-all-info-is

And it's now possible to book for the conference itself on the AIN Portland conference page.

Getting to know people will not be a problem at this conference - it's the most welcoming bunch on the planet.

Let me know if I can help you further.

Best wishes,
Belina

Hi Ruthie,

In terms of homestays/AYH, etc. I'm afraid you'll have to do a little sleuthing yourself. Our local team don't know of any off hand, and we are encouraging everyone to stay at the hotel - which we chose because of their good value offering. More details will be posted soon...

Best wishes,
Belina

Hi Ruthie,

I'm the chairperson of the upcoming Portland conference. Leif passed your details on to me and I understand that you're keen to find out more quickly. We're on the case and will get back to you asap.

Best wishes,
Belina

That's great that you found a collaborator for your workshop. I wish you well.
I do expect to be in Philadelphia on a Sunday night. I'm just not sure which one. I'll keep you posted as soon as I know when I'll be in Philadelphia.

Hi Ruthie -

It just so happens that I'm planning a trip to Philly to see my son, Ariel, perform in "Scorched" at the Wilma Theater. I believe it opens around Feb. 25th and goes through March. I'll probably come out in mid March. Maybe we can find time to meet face-to-face.

Hi Ruthie. Paul suggested we "meet". Here we meet at the crossroads of improv and psychodrama just to the left of cogntive behavioral therapy. In any event, why don't we talk a little more about your specific goals because improv is all therapeutic, even if the corporate world doesn't like to look through that lense.

Paul, to show you how uninformed I am at this point, I don't know what sfbt is, except Solutions Focus _______.

I am so excited seeing all the ways people are applying improv in the network.

How I got here:
I just gave an improv workshop that was extremely successful, but it wasn't focused on applied improv. One of the people at my workshop was so excited about what I did in the workshop and how it can be used in a therapeutic way, using family relationships (when asking for a relationship and location to start an improv), along with the basic improv 'rule' of "Accept the offer," that she insisted I look into working in that area. As it happens, the woman, whom I'd never met prior to the workshop, is a life-coach. She insisted that she is an expert therefore, in seeing one's gift, and this is my area. Since I think improv is a very valuable tool (My workshops bring out creativity and confidence in a supportive, fun, even joyous, environment.), I decided that I want to explore applied improvisation workshops, and I am most interested in exploring therapeutic improv. So that's where I am. Any resources or advice is very welcome.

Hi Ruthie. Welcome to the network. My work in Solutions Focus derives from the therapeutic world of sfbt, and mixes well with improv. Perhaps you could start a therapeutic use of improv on this site, see who is interested, and perhaps embody it at one of our conferences...
