During a middle school presentation, I selected a random sixth-grader from the audience to perform a game with me (to illustrate the power of improv/communication). He was fantastic. I learned later that he was one of the most autistic kids in the school!
More about you: (Short Bio or any other details you'd like people to know)
As president of The Chris Farley Foundation (and older brother of Chris), I develop and conduct programs that use humor to reach youth audiences with messages on the dangers of drugs and alcohol. Using Chris as a model, I began utilizing Improv techniques as the means to achieve this goal. The response has been overwhelmingly positive. Kids and teens don't need more information about substance abuse; they don't need to be told how to behave. Youth audiences need tools to develop better communications skills and resist peer pressure. Improv delivers those tools and skills in spades! It also sparks tremendous creativity within a group of people that have more talent than anything I've ever seen.
I need help with...
I have seen, read and heard a lot about how Improv can generate positive results (in a number of areas). However, I have yet to find real quantitative studies that prove this. I would like to have an answer when asked the question. "prove it!"
