The Applied Improvisation Network

Spreading the Transforming Power of Improvisation

I get the impression that many of us are single person entities or small businesses. As such I think it can make approaching large corporations more intimidating because you have to start answering all the "how many people can you handle" or "are you able to handle a project of this size" questions.

So I 'm thinking that what we have here is the possibility of thinking of AIN as an extension of our businesses. And I realize that in many ways that is what it was intended to be. I'm either thinking of a subtle distinction or I, once again, need to find my medication.

And it may only be a confidence thing that when you are feeling that pressure of being small you can imagine all the VPs in your oganization by looking at the website here. I'm not talking about misrepresentation but more thinking about the extended network and realizing you have people you could call on for specific needs.

Some of you are already familiar with each other and how you work so it's a no brainer but as the rest of us get comfortable with each other I think it can be come a way to expand our personal work possibilities but also a way of creating as sense of the Improv world being able to tackle larger scale problems. This in turn should create more possibilities for everyone.

I am desperately hoping this isn't a case of Master of the Obvious striking again but sometimes just putting it into words starts to make the possible more probable.

It wasn't obvious to me until this last conference Robin (or at least maybe a couple of weeks before that). So I imagine that its not obvious to others as well. When speaking as a 'royal we', we can do all kinds of things!

yes! thank you for naming this. it helps me feel less alone and more of a team. i've called on folks, via email and phone conversations since joining AIN and it makes a difference to chew on something with many other folks vs going in circles in my own head. left to my own devices, it's never good. and so....
