Spreading the Transforming Power of Improvisation

Paul Z Jackson

What's our part in developing the field of Applied Improvisation?

Hello from the president. I notice that more than a thousand of us have signed up to be part of the AIN. I’m guessing that means we all have an interest in developing the field of applied improvisation – perhaps to generate more work for ourselves, or to learn more about how improvisation can impact the world of organisations and communities.

The most immediate way we can do this is by strengthening our network: asking and answering questions, sharing our tips and experiences, connecting to find out more about what everyone is doing out there.

So, what’s the smallest step you’d like to take to contribute to this development: is it setting up or attending a local chapter, registering for the Portland conference, greeting someone on the site who sounds interesting to connect with, adding a line to a Forum discussion, putting yourself on the member map? Or something spontaneously else?

A thousand small steps will produce difference, novelty and progress. Improvisation consists of taking turns step by step, giving each other constructive responses. Now it’s your move.

Cheers

Just a thought: If every one here posted just one activity or exercise they had created themselves, and shared it, we'd have over a thousand activities! What a rich and original resource that would be!
