Hey Jerry!
Thanks for the response to my blog post. I hear you're a former Smarty Pants-er. That's fantastic! I'm currently part of the troupe, too. Hope all is well in your neck of the woods. -Briana
Thanks for the prompt and warm welcome! I am thrilled to be abroad, er... aBOARD! (Sorry - long day so far and that started out as a typo...). I am all ears to accept any other advice you may have. I'm just getting the hang of this e-conferencing etc...
A couple of those photos looked suspiciously like Banff - what did you think of the place? My family shares a place in Canmore, located about 20 minutes west on the main highway. It's much less crowded and equally beautiful. Those mountains are something else, aren't they? Sounds like you enjoyed the conference. I'm choked that I found out about your group AFTER it was over D-oh!
I'm thinking of changing my photo - I actually do have a forehead & hair. what say you?
Thanks for writing!

Hello Jerry! Thanks for the greeting. I've been out of touch for a while - good to hear from you.
After the 26th sounds good. I don't think I will be up your way before then. Just let me know when you have a date in mind. I have been kicking around some of the ideas we talked about for a regional meeting. Excited to bounce them off of ya, and see what you think. :)
Just wanted to say hi, and see how things are going! Let me know if you want to meet up again and talk shop! Stay warm......or dry.....or relatively warm....who knows around here..... ;)
Thanks for the add. Where do you live? Do you live past "the big Jesus" on 75? I would love to meet up and exchange ideas. I am always up that way working with schools, theatres, etc. In fact, I am speaking up there this Saturday. So I hope we can meet one day soon!
Thanks again!
Hey Jerry glad to be involved with AIN. Missed this years' conference but hope to be in Norway in June. I would love to get involved with a Midwest mini-conference.

Hi, Robin! I'll admit I hadn't heard of the "know like trust" mantra before, so I had to brush up on that first. I like your speech - one thing you might add is an element of "HOW" applied improv helps bridge that gap. Something like: "Applied improv takes tools used to build trust among improv actors and applies them to everyday situations."
In reviewing the materials Rebecca sent me and some other info sources, I think a simple structure for an elevator speech might be:
WHAT does the product/service do?
HOW does it do it?
What PROBLEM/OPPORTUNITY does it address? (or: How does it IMPROVE people's lives?)
How can you ILLUSTRATE it with a simple, powerful metaphor?
As to the latter ... some off-the-cuff metaphors/connections:
Applied Improv helps you deal with:
Indoor train wrecks....
Unscheduled pit stops ...
The times when life is standing on your script....
People who act like people ...
Hi Jerry - YAY! I'm delighted you can come to CowTown. Any time. Hey, I had a brainstorm over the elevator problem. I got to thinking about "know like trust", the networking and sales mantra. Here's the elevator speech - everyone knows Know Like Trust, but how many organizations have that relationship inside? We in the Improv world (today I call it experiential learning community) bridge that gap. We bridge the gap between KNOWING the importance of an interconnected staff and HAVING an interconnected staff. We get our client companys there! What do you think? (Be honest, I'm always VERY fond of my own ideas:))
Hi Jerry!
I need help with my elevator speech too. We are in Columbus, and lets find a time to get together and brainstorm elevators and more. How does your calendar look in January?
