Caspar Schjelbred: Let Your Body Talk
“Your body has more stories to tell than you can think of. In this workshop we shall look at two things: how your body can be an endless source of inspiration and how you can use it as instrument of truly theatrical improvisation. The purpose is to powerfully remind you of the fact that the audience sees everything; to make you see and feel that everything, every little movement on stage is important. Knowing what you’re doing with your body in every moment will not only make you look fabulous up there, it will also give you more creative freedom, more excitement… more pleasure! It will make you a stronger improviser.
Mark Jane: Simply Playing
“Improvisation is about the spontaneous relationship between actors on stage. This relationship should be a playful one in a positive and constructive sense. Actors play characters but they should also play with each other. But being playful does not mean ignoring the story; in fact playfulness should enhance and develop the story. This workshop aims to provide simple tools for developing a playful relationship on stage in your improvisation.”
Clara McBride: The Reality of Improv Is Doing
“In this workshop we will be working in a world far from one where an Improv actor performs for laughs or is not changed by the events that surround her. Through techniques created by Sanford Meisner and the Actor’s Studio, we will concentrate on reacting sincerely in our improvised worlds and on developing situations as truthfully as possible. You will learn to identify your impulsions and then enjoy the playful freedom of being able to use them in your imaginary reality.”
Florian Bartsch: Creating the “Where”, Strong Characters and Dramatic Change
“In the last workshop before the performance night, we will create lively and vibrating moments of drama and see how we can make the audience scream, sigh, laugh, hold their breath and engage with your story. We’ll work on the three main aspects of a well rounded improvised scene: (1) how to activate and fill your space, “paint” the stage, and create a solid environment with a unique atmosphere; (2) how to play characters that people – the other improvisers and the audience – can engage with emotionally; (3) how to make it clear what the scene is about in order to create dramatic change.”
